IAN KERR Chair Of Trustees
Ian co-founded international development charity ActionAid in the early 1970s. He has since worked extensively in the charity sector and started one of the UK’s leading fundraising consultancies.
Until recently, he worked with a charity in Nepal which rescues and cares for trafficked children.
HUW JONES - Founder & Executive Director
Huw has over 25 years’ experience working in Africa. He was a professional safari guide for many years, and subsequently worked in rural development and education e-learning development. He also consulted for the UN in Maastricht and for local government in Norfolk, UK.
Huw is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and holds an MSc in Environment and International Development from the University of East Anglia.
DR B. FUNDAFUNDA Director of Virtual Doctors Zambia
Dr Boniface Fundafunda, Managing Director at Medical Stores Limited, provides guidance to the charity, particularly on engagement with the Ministry of Health.
As a resource on policy and operational system development for public health, Dr Fundafunda has over 20 years of work experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as the UN agencies.
MUYUNDA MUNYINDA Director of Virtual Doctors Zambia
Muyunda is Enterprise Director at Airtel Zambia. He has many years of experience, largely in the private sector, in industries including corporate banking, energy, mining, transportation and FMCG.
Muyunda studied at the University of Zambia (BA Economics) and the University of Cape Town (MBA).
Dr. PHALLON B MWABA - Director of Virtual Doctors Zambia
Dr. Phallon B Mwaba is a Zambian Medical Doctor, holder of a Masters in Global Health from the University of Glasgow, and currently pursuing a PhD in Social and Public Health. He has vast experience in primary health care, public health and health care management at hospital and district levels. He is passionate about health care management, global health and finding innovative ways of dealing with health care service delivery in resource limited areas and developing complex health interventions
NGENDA NYAMBE Director of Virtual Doctors Zambia
Ngenda is a former banker and financial markets expert with over 22 years of experience in the sector.
He is currently an independent consultant in the financial services industry, and is also an independent non-executive director of some commercial and public sector boards of directors.
DR FRAN FIELDHOUSE Volunteer Medical Director
Fran qualified as a doctor in 1998. In 2001, following a Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the University of Liverpool, she worked in a hospital in southern Zambia for six months. She has also worked in a refugee camp in Sudan, in Tunisia and as a GP in central London with a large immigrant population.
She currently works as a GP in Oxfordshire, where she also teaches medical students from the University of Oxford and trains junior doctors.
DR MINNIE LACAMP Volunteer Medical and Educational Associate
Minnie qualified as a doctor in 1996 and trained in Paediatrics in the North East of England and has also worked in a government hospital in South West Zimbabwe. She loves the ability of Virtual Doctors to reach out and allow both education and knowledge sharing. Minnie is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
ROS BIRD Head of Fundraising
Ros has 20 years’ experience working in the not for profit sector and holds the Diploma in Marketing with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the International Advanced Diploma in Fundraising with Institute of Fundraising (IoF), Ros’s particular interests are cross sharing of ideas and good fundraising practice.
Ros previously lived in Kenya.
DAVID DUTTON Trustee
David has been a hands on business angel in a number of small company start-ups, alongside working as an Executive Director for a major UK media company and several of its subsidiaries.
David studied at the University of Cambridge (BA Economics) and Harvard University (MBA summa cum laude).
GAVIN MARSH Trustee
Gavin is a Chartered Management Accountant, with over 20 years’ post-qualification experience. He has held a number of directorships and senior finance roles in subsidiaries of international blue chip engineering and commercial companies.
Gavin studied at the University of Oxford (BA Honours Chemistry).
LINA WOEHRLING Executive Business Assistant
Lina has a solid background in project management and account management for virtual events in the international corporate world. Lina has also volunteered for various organisations in the arts and charity sector in the UK, Europe and the USA.
Lina is multilingual and holds an MSc in Translation Studies from the University of Edinburgh and an MA in Art History from the University of St Andrews.
JAMES PHIRI Zambia Trustee
James is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and has held a number of senior finance roles in FTSE multinationals. He is an Executive Director of The John Maxwell Team, certified to facilitate, speak, train and coach individuals and groups in the areas of leadership development, professional skills and personal growth
James is also involved in a number of charitable projects and is particularly passionate about youth and community development projects.
IAN CLARKE Trustee
Ian has 30 years’ experience in the IT industry and is currently Chief Technology Officer for dmgi::land&property Europe.
Ian studied at the University of Manchester (Physics and Electronics).
DR MIKE THOMPSON Trustee
Mike has been a doctor for over 25 years. In the past he has worked in a rural Mission hospital in Zimbabwe and has 15 years’ experience as a UK charity trustee.
Mike studied at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (Postgraduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine).
NAGGIB CHAKHANE Trustee
Naggib is a certified executive coach, international speaker and leadership trainer. A seasoned finance and corporate strategy professional, Naggib spent the last 20 years consulting with, or as part of the management team of various multinational corporations in the UK, USA, Central Asia, Japan and Africa. Naggib trained as a Certified Accountant in the UK, and holds an MBA from Surrey Business School.
STELLAH CHILEMBO Field Assistant
Stellah was born and grew up in Lusaka. Based in Bauleni compound of Lusaka, Stellah completed her Grade 12 education certificate this year.
NICOLA MCCAHILL - Volunteer Operations Manager and Secretary to the Board
Nicola started working with Virtual Doctors a year ago as a volunteer helping with the newsletter. She's a lawyer and has worked in the UK and overseas. She has some experience working for charities, at the Children's Legal Centre and as a volunteer with IPSEA. She's looking forward to the challenge of helping Virtual Doctors expand into Malawi.
KATHY BURKE Trustee
Kathy is a scientist with a background in reproductive health and HIV, who has worked in both the non-profit sector and the Federal government in the US, and more recently, as a teacher in the UK. She has been involved for many years with a number of educational and health-related charities, either as a Trustee, fundraiser or advisor. She holds an MSc in Genetics from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
SHAKERRIE ALLMOND, In-Country Project Manager
Shakerrie hails from Richmond, Virginia with over 6 years of experience in healthcare management. She has worked with multiple hospitals and skilled nursing facilities in the Richmond, Yorktown and Washington, DC areas. She is passionate about strengthening the capacity of Zambians to build a healthcare system that works for everyone, using private sector approaches to a public sector need.
LESTER DAKA, Deputy In-Country Project Manager
Lester grew up in Mansa and holds a degree in development studies and demography from the university of Zambia. She has one year experience of working as a sales executive agent with Hai telecoms, though her passion has always been to do nursing. In the near future she hopes to build her own health facility.
DR SIMON GAZELEY Volunteer
Simon qualified as a doctor in 1997, and after time in Australia finished his GP training in Yorkshire. He is currently a partner in a GP practice in Bingley and also works at the local skin cancer clinic. In 2012 he worked at an NGO clinic in Malawi.
